These 17th century walls were in a poor condition due to neglect, inappropriate repairs and deficiencies in the original construction. We re-built areas which had either been dismantled due to their fragile nature or which had collapsed long ago.

The majority of the re-build used new carefully matched hand-made bricks, including plinth and ovolo mouldings. We produced cut and rubbed mouldings on site using templates taken from originals bricks.

Our main challenge was to respect the original lines of the wall, trying to marry old and new with as little jarring as possible.
